Children are quite special to us at St. Stephen’s. We recognize that each child is born with an innate sense of God. We do our best to make sure all children realize their sacred worth and know that God made them and loves them. In all that we do in Children’s Ministry we seek to welcome children into a safe and nurturing environment where they can learn Bible stories, our Episcopal Faith Traditions, and feel a true sense of family at St. Stephen’s.
We also invite you to volunteer to teach, become a storyteller, help with our family breakfast, or just be present for our children. We encourage all parents/guardians to volunteer at least once a season. For more information contact Sara Armstrong at email@example.com
Church School begins each Sunday at 9:50. All church School classes are taught in North Hall. Around 10:35 all the Church School classes from PreK through 5th grade are lead by their teachers to the church where they join their families for Holy Communion and the remainder of the service.
Children experience a wide range of learning opportunities which include music, art, and dramatic play. Pre-K through 1st Grade learn the stories of the Bible in an age-appropriate way through story-telling and fun crafts. 2nd grade through 5th grade spend a good portion of their time together discussing important issues raised in the bible led by their teachers in an age appropriate way, followed by a story-based activity.
All adult teachers have passed a formal background check and have attended training. Our church is a designated Safe Church.
There is a joyful noise going on during Children’s Church School at St. Stephen’s. We invite you to come be a part of it!
Here’s a Sneak Peak at our Upcoming 2017-2018 Church School Lesson Calendar! (Click to enlarge!)
We hope that you will consider signing up to teach during our Church School sessions. If you have never taught before but are interested in finding out more, please just let us know. We will be starting a training program for new teachers which will include very easy to follow guides and the opportunity to work with a seasoned teacher who will show you the ropes! I hope you will not hesitate to get involved – there have been very few things that I’ve found more fulfilling than working with children in this capacity. It’s just so rewarding!
This year we will need help in the following classrooms:
